Also, it’s hard to study the nature of love when you’re immersed in it (like a goldfish trying to study water), so you need a place to go where love isn’t automatic … which brings us to the second main way a soul learns.

2. Physical plane growth. Welcome to planet Earth, home to murder, rape, torture, betrayal, abuse (physical, emotional and mental), addictions and all the other horrors you can think of. These things are possible down here because we’re blocked from the pure love of the soul plane. The good news is that learning and evolution occur much faster down here because so much trauma can be compressed into a few short years. Yes, Earth life can be hell but the growth potential is incredible because, ironically, we learn faster from pain than from joy.
